The Global Digital Report 2019 was released by Hootsuite and “we are social” on 31st January 2019. Hootsuite is a Canadian international social media management and trusted by employees at 800+ of the Fortune 1000. The ”We are social” is a New York-based Global agency, delivering world-class creative ideas with a forward-thinking brand.

According to the report,

– There are 5.11 billion unique mobile users in the world today, up 100 million (2 percent) in the past year.

–  There are 4.39 billion internet users in 2019, an increase of 366 million (9 percent) versus January 2018.

–  There are 3.48 billion social media users in 2019, with the worldwide total growing by 288 million (9 percent) since this time last year.

–   3.26 billion people use social media on mobile devices in January 2019, with a growth of 297 million new users representing a year-on-year increase of more than 10 percent.

ASEAN’s digital using

The Bangkok Post stated that Thailand ranked No.1 for mobile banking users, second for ownership of cryptocurrency, and third in mobile commerce, according to the Global Digital Report 2019.

In ASEAN countries, Brunei was the top of the internet user with 94% of the population, which was a lot more than the world’s internet using percent 57. Singapore ranked second in internet using with a percent of 84 and Thailand stood in third place with 82 %.Then,it followed Malaysia(80%),Cambodia(76%),Philipines(71%), Vietnam(64%), Indonesia(56%), Timor-Leste (42%),and Laos and Myanmar(39%) each.

Myanmar Digital Review

Myanmar’s digital status now is still as low as  Laos, with 39% of the country’s population. Myanmar’s internet user, active social media user, and mobile social media user share 21 millions of the country’s population, that is 39% of it. Annual digital growth from January 2018 to January 2019 takes +0.9%.

-In Myanmar, there are more men digital users than women.Most of the age range is within  18 to 34 years old.

-Myanmar e-commerce market is very much spread out, starting with individuals who sell the wares they no longer need online to large online shops, where one can buy almost everything on their online platforms. Myanmar online shopping is led by two players namely shop.com.mm and rgo47.E-commerce sector sector will continue to grow as it is where the future of retail lies.According to the report, financial inclusion factors of Myanmar is shown as follow.
