Myanmar badminton star Thet Htar Thuzar beat Jordan Hart from Wales in the final of the women’s singles event of the Egypt International 2019 tournament at Cairo City, Egypt on 21 October . She won with a two-match win,2-0 result in the tournament. The first match ended with a big 21-6 and the second match ended with a score of 11-1.
The Egypt international 2019 was held from 17 to 20 October in Cairo, Egypt. Thet Htar Thuzar won decisive victories through the tourney in the round of 32 of the women’s singles event. She beat Egyptian player Jana Hesham Mohamed Abdelkader by 21-4 and 21-7. Next in the round of 16, she beat India’s Ritika Thaker by 21-17 and 24-22 to enter the quarter-final.
In the quarter-final, she beat Indian Kanika Kanwal by 21-14 and 21-17. In the semifinal, she beat Peru’s Daniela Macias by 21-8 and 21- 13. By winning in Egypt, she has chalked up seven international titles within a year. Moreover, she is currently in a good position for qualifying for the women’s badminton singles event in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Thet Htar Thuzar was born in Yangon on 15 March 1999. She participated in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in her home country Myanmar. She won her first international title at the Egypt International 2018. In 2019 she has reached eight finals, most in the African Badminton Circuit, winning 6 events in Uganda Kenya, Mauritius, Benin, Ivory Coast and again in Egypt.
She is the only one femal of international badminton player from Myanmar within a decade and also she is Myanmar’s 20 years old icon.
