Myanmar will manufacture marketable electric buses.Wow! It’s a good news for Myanmar. U Khin Maung Cho,Minister for Industry, said the good news in the regular session of Union Parliament held in Nay Pyi Taw on September 6. According to the minister , the ministry is cooperating with external experts to produce electric motors that will be installed at electric buses in the industries of Thagara Industrial Region in Bago.
“Negotiations with Green Power Myanmar Co, Ltd have begun in order to manufacture electric buses.Ambulances are being manufactured in line with rules and regulations laid down by the government and have already been sold to the Ministry of Health and Sports. We have received orders from the private hospitals”,said U Khin Maung Cho.
Modulo technology from Hungary will be applied to produce the buses and they will sell them locally and internationally.Modulo is a brand of busses manufactured by Hungarian Evopro holding company.
A brief history of electric vehicles(EV)
In the early 19th century, researchers in Hungary, the Netherlands, and the United States began exploring the idea of battery-powered vehicles. The first successful electric car was made in the United States in 1890. By 1935, electric cars practically disappeared. When gas prices soared in 1970s, electric cars entered back into the marketplace.
In 1990,electric cars made more popular as societal concern for the environment began to rise. In 1997, the Prius, the first majorly manufactured electric vehicle was released by Toyota. At the start of the 21st century, the technology of electric cars looked more promising than ever. Today, electric vehicles are on the rise and continue to advance as more Americans demand a more efficient and eco-friendly vehicle.
Electric buses are marketable as they don’t produce carbon monoxide fumes hurting the environment. They can reduce emission that contribute to climate change and smog, improving public health and reducing ecological damage and even save you money.Charging your EV on renewable energy such as solar or wind minimizes these emissions even more.
It is beneficial not only to the country but also to the world. Especially, the country, ever imported diesel and gas energy from abroad, will reduce US dollar demands resulting in trade deficit. If the government can export them to international market, foreign currency income like The United State dollars will be increased.
Actually, charging electric bus batteries is not as simple as refueling a diesel and petro engine.Special attention, monitoring, and scheduling are required to make optimal use of the charging process, while also ensuring proper battery maintenance and safekeeping.
After the manufacturing processes have been finished, charging stations will be required to refuel the buses. If the NLD government can manage it properly, the release of the buses will really dignify the country.
“Plans are underway to build charging stations in Yangon and at highways, said Minister U Khin Maung Cho.
In conclusion, the news is good for all of Myanmar people and we have to wait and see whether they are as good as their word or not.
